How are you? (2017)

A Collaborative participatory work exploring the way people communicate with each other.

Volunteers were given a phone for an allocated time over the course of a week, the number to this phone was posted around Plymouth, Cornwall and Bristol. If the phone rang, the volunteers were asked to answer with the question "how are you?", this overused phrase has become a formality in conversation often said without thinking about the possible response. This question was used as a catalyst to spark some sincere conversations between unfamiliar people and encouraged people to consider their role as the listener.
